Service Scheduler & Finder
CLIPPR. is a concept website for discovering and scheduling salon services with custom
algorithmic recommendations. This project was produced with insights from the team at Jay's Barbershop Paris, known for their work in movies and Netflix shows like Emily in Paris.
The challenge ✅
As per insights from the team, clients are often not sure what’s the best place to avail salon services like haircuts near them which caters to their exact requirements. Getting a haircut is not just a service for clients - it's an experience. The aim was to design a service website for discovering and scheduling salon services with custom algorithmic recommendations. A platform like this does not exist in the French market yet.
User research summary ↓
With insights from the team of professionals at Jay's Barbershop Paris, I understood the users I’m designing for and their needs. The primary user group identified through research were users who care about the way they look and like to stay well groomed.
Research revealed that users are also open to exploring concept barbershops and salons to find services that suit their taste and mood.
Incentivizing users with rewards for loyalty can help in creating a better experience.
Users don’t always know the options they have and what could work best for them.
The ability to schedule appointments for services can save time.
User persona summary↓
Gabriel Allard is 24 year old student in Paris, who wants to find and schedule an appointment with a barber who understands his style because he likes to stay sharp and look well groomed.
“I wish there was an easy way to find and schedule appointment with a barber that understands my style.”
As a single 24 year old, Gabriel likes to look well groomed. He wants to save time everyday so he can focus on fitness, friends and other hobbies.
Before creating wireframes, I outlined the sitemap to decide on a clear website structure. For this website I created the hierarchical structure. In the sitemap, I also outlined the possible functionalities which could be incorporated.
Key functionalities ↓
Allowing users to discover salons by parameters such as location, rating, languages spoken, hair type and price points.
Having a user account would add additional benefits like customised recommendations as per set parameters along with a reward system.
Allow professional and salons to register on the site and present their services.
Digital wireframes overview ↓
Using the sitemap created earlier, I started drafting wireframes and focused on creating a user flow to schedule a haircut appointment. I wanted to make sure the scheduling and discovery flow is seamless and gives cues to the user at every step.
After some user feedback, I added a global search function on the hero banner, so users have the possibility to discover services in minimal timeframe possible.
Using the completed set of digital wireframes as per the user feedback, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The user flow I created was for discovering a suitable salon and scheduling a service.
I further translated the wireframes into a high-fidelity prototype, where I could understand and test the user flow and experience more. You can access the prototype here.
CLIPPR. will allow users to discover and book salon services with custom algorithmic recommendations.
This platform will also help in building more authentic relationship between clients and professionals.
A combination of both desktop and mobile versions of the site makes the platform more accessible.
With help and insights from Jay's Barbershop Paris, this idea was further developed in form of a concept app and was presented at L'Oreal Real Campus. ✅
